The disc enclosed in this journal is complete, i.e. you do not need anything else (other than a PC with Windows XP or Vista installed). After you insert the CD, it should start automatically. Just install using all the defaults. You will end up with the index installed and a NAPE icon with which to open the Index.
You will find on your C:\ drive a new folder, "IndexNAPE". Inside it are a number of files, the ones you need to be concerned about have the names "IndexNAPE" and "IndexNAPE_be", they are respectively the Program and the Data. Once you have installed the Index, you will not need to install it again under normal circumstances. NAPE may provide two types of updates.
Program updates: these may happen because we have corrected a problem that a user has reported to us. In that case we will put a replacement of the file "IndexNAPE" on our website. Download that file, following the instructions on the website, and copy it to the folder "C:\IndexNAPE\", where it will replace the existing copy.
Data Changes: these may be additions to the indices, or changes to correct errors or omissions in the data. In that case we will put a replacement of the file "IndexNAPE_be" on our website. Download that file, following the instructions on the website, and copy it to the folder "C:\IndexNAPE\", where it will replace the existing copy.
The current copies of those two files will always be on our website, and you can download them and replace your current copies any time you wish. You do NOT have to re-install the program, just replace the files as described above.
If for any reason you need to start afresh, you must first uninstall the program, and then re-install it using your original CD. You can then download the latest copies from the web and copy them as described above, to end up with the latest copy of the Journal Index.
